These two images I have traced with marker then added colour and repeated pattern using illustrator. Using negative space usually makes type less legible but more interesting which draws more attention to the message.
This image explores negative space in letter forms. I placed a view finder over some printed text and traced the negative space to create 12 different compositions. I like the way some of the space joins between different squares.

In this image I experimented with negative and positive space and the way it effects how you read text. To create I cut out a stencil, splashed it with ink and then added colour using illustrator.

The image on the left I traced using a grey marker pen to give a scratchy effect. I then exported to illustrator  and repeated the image in red and blue to make a 3D anaglyph image.

Negative space project

The two above images I have created by compressing the text and then tracing the negative space with a marker pen, I have then traced in illustrator and added colour. I tried different amounts of negative space and found this was most interesting yet still legible.

I decided to revisit the map stencil images and make the photographs more prominent. Also I have printed these straight onto brown paper i think these images are more successful to the ones prior.
